London, ON (September, 2012) Hanwha L&C Canada has been named the recipient of London’s Featured Company Award for the month of September by the City of London and the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC).
Growing steadily through business diversification since its launch in 1952, Hanwha Group is the 8th largest business conglomerate (asset basis) in Korea. Operating in the chemicals, machinery, finance, and construction development industries, the company’s assets consist of 34 domestic affiliates, 41 overseas branches and subsidiaries, and 21,000 employees. Hanwha L&C Division is a world leader in the manufacture of industrial materials such as plastic floor resources and artificial marble for kitchen countertops. The company also produces plastic automotive parts and interior trims, as well as other plastic products, such as packaging materials and films.
In 2009, Hanwha L&C invested $70 million dollars and built their first Canadian plant; a 200,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility in Innovation Park. The new facility employs over 100 people. In the London, Ontario plant, HanStone™ Fine Quartz Surfaces are produced for residential and commercial surface materials, with a focus on design, functionality, and style. HanStones are supplied to well-known retail outlets such as Rona and IKEA.

London’s Featured Company Award is distributed by the City of London and the London Economic Development Corporation and is awarded to a London company that fits the following criteria: part of the external economy with demonstrated leadership in their industry sector, recognized as an employer of choice, demonstrated community mindedness, demonstrated sustainability and/or growth, and has demonstrated innovation. The award is given monthly by the Mayor in front of Council.
